We're Not Pregnant 2009

I can't believe it's been more than a year since our last We're Not Pregnant Party! By now you know this is an annual event my friends and I have each year to celebrate that we aren't pregnant and we don't have babies (under 1 year old). It all got started when we had to go to a bunch of baby showers all right in a row and we got tired of it!

Each year, we crown a Miss We're Not Pregnant. Vesta was last year's winner and won again this year (we vote). It's very fitting because it was also a goodbye party for her. She is moving to Germany on September 1st. She has always wanted to live in a foreign county and she is finally doing it. I'm so excited for her. Her "crown" is from Germany, so we'll let the sorting hat slide.

For some reason, I was the host for this year. We had so many of the original "founders", so it was really fun. I can't believe how long I've known these guys. I feel so old!

We had it at Frankies Tiki Room which is actually a really cute place. We tried to theme it out a little bit with some tiki stuff. Everyone is required to wear a crown but by the end of the night, they are usually off. We had some very interesting games. One game was to guess what was in the brown bag (stuff like a pregnancy test, tampon, condoms, etc.). Here's Angie and Michael trying to figure it out. Everyone's favorite is putting the condom on the cucumber with no hands, blindfolded. It's great for potential blackmail photos. Here's Chris helping Mindy and making fun of her...
...and Jean showing us her skills Breakfast Club style.Another game that was pretty funny was Guess That Funky Spunk. You have to guess what substance is in the condom. It's pretty gross but it's always good for a laugh. I was suprised, I thought they'd get more right answers than they did! Jessica won that one.We played a hilarious game where they had to sculpt...something...out of a piece of gum. I liked this one the best. I was cracking up (I was the judge).I think this was the best one we've had so far. I had a blast!

Trip to Idaho and Utah

For the past week, we have been visiting my mom in Idaho Falls and then visiting my dad in Ephraim. It was fun just hanging out with the family. Brenda and her kids were there, too. First, we were in Idaho. We went to Bear World and they had the cutest stinkin' baby bears there! We had a good time goofin' around. There's kind of a petting zoo there too, so we got to play with some animals, also.

Later in the week we headed down to my dad and Patty's farm in Ephraim. We HAD to go see Harry Potter and on the way, we stopped at the Red Barn to buy some fruit. It was a really cute place (by the way, Harry Potter was awesome).

After the movie, we stopped at Pollie's, the old fashioned candy store. It's really cool-they sell shakes and ice cream and of course, a full service candy shop. Wyatt and Taylor

We spent the rest of the time four wheeling and playing on the farm. I crashed the go-cart but there was no damage. :)

Kitty Potty Training

So if there is one chore that I absolutely hate to do, it's cleaning the kitty box. We decided to do something about it:

we potty trained our kitties.

That's a big kitty!

Pootie is sensitive about his weight. Why? Because cleaning the kitty box is the bane of our existence. And how? With a magical device called the City Kitty.

No, not Sh***y Kitty, City Kitty.

It works for young and old cats. You have to invest in flushable litter at first, but it's totally worth it.

Bending Spoons

Today something amazing happened. My mom, Aunt Betti, and Aunt Virginia are all visiting for a few days. My Aunt Virginia is really into the psychic phenomena and happens to know how to bend spoons. My Aunt Betti can do it too. I always thought it was a lie until one day about 10 years ago, I saw my Aunt Virginia bend a spoon and since then, I've always wanted to learn. Today, I finally did it. I bent my first spoon. It wasn't as fast or as good as Virginia's, but I'm so stoked! My second cousin Teasa and her man Steve also bent their first spoons. It was a pretty sturdy spoon and after lightly rubbing it and concentrating on that part of the spoon, it eventually would just give way. I'm absolutely baffled!

The Fair

Yeah, yeah, you know the drill. We went to the fair on Friday afternoon and yes, it was the same as every other year. We didn't stay for very long--we knew where the highlights were.
We checked out all the booths. Of course, the food was fabulous. We checked out all the animals-I loved seeing the piggies and the colored Easter chicks.

Another thing I enjoyed was the old fashioned root beer in a tin cup. Am I just getting too old? I used to go all four days, ALL day long. This time we were only there a couple of hours, but I still feel like I got the full fair experience...I just checked out my favorite parts!

St. Thomas

Today we went hiking out to St. Thomas. Alicia gave me the idea after she posted her pictures a few weeks ago. It was so neat! It's quite incredible to see the foundations of these buildings after they've been underwater for so long. If those walls could talk!My grandparents used to live in St. Thomas so it felt like going back to my roots somehow. It was interesting to see pieces of china and bottles out there. It was an easy hike and I encourage everyone to check it out if they can. It's a great little piece of history. Here is a little bit of history I stole from Alicia:

Founded 8 Jan 1865 by Mormon settlers sent by Brigham Young to the confluence of the Muddy and Virgin Rivers, St. Thomas had fewer than 500 residents, but was a popular stop along the Arrowhead Trail. The town and surrounding land was purchased by the Federal goverment in the 1930s to make way for Lake Mead. Most residents moved to nearby Overton. After the completion of Hoover Dam (then called Boulder Dam), the waters rose to cover the foundations of the town's buildings. Today, when the lake is low, the remnants of St. Thomas rise out of the mud.

Brenda

Brenda has been visiting for the past couple of days. She's the oldest in the family and I'm the youngest. We're 9 years apart but it's rare that a day goes by that we don't talk. We have decided to make an annual event out of her coming to visit with no kids. It's sort of her time to let loose and just goof around without having to take care of someone.

On Thursday we all went to dinner with my buddy George (ie, my Gary Spivey date). George is hilarious so I was so glad they really got to meet each other. Friday, we went to Overton. Brenda wanted to spend some time with our grandparents.
We spent the morning chatting and then we peaced out to Box Wash for some shooting and four wheeling. My dad busted out the AK-47 and we had a competition. There was a mangled Santa Clause that had been used by someone else for target practice out there, so that's what we put our target on. Brenda beat me by 5 points.
I always love me some four wheeling. Saturday, we got massages and then went shopping. We had so much fun but her trip was way too short. Thanks sister, I had a great time!
